Improving Elementary School Attendance and Bus Behaviors

Fostertown and Gardnertown elementary schools have focused on using technology to improve protocols/procedures and student learning. With a focus on improving attendance, ITF Karen Molfese developed a presentation that highlights the class with the highest attendance percentage of the month. A class picture is added to the slide and it is presented in the cafeteria on the Activwall for the month. Also, all students in grades pre-k through 5 with 100% attendance for the month are showcased with their names scrolling through the slide as well. This has helped motivate students and improve their attendance. NFA North Goes Full Force with Digital Resources

Teachers and students at NFA North have been engaged in a variety of digital learning experiences.  North’s Instructional Technology Facilitator (ITF) Jackie Holmes refers to these as, “really interesting, exciting and mind blowing technologies” and explains the school is “going full force with G Suite for Education on our new chromebooks as well as many other new innovative  technologies throughout our school.” Holmes has spent time in the ELA classrooms, collaborating with teachers as students work on narrative essays using Google Docs and Slides, some of which will become websites.  “Creating sites is our end outcome for this lesson with the use of 21st century technology,” she said.  “Allowing students to be open to Continue reading NFA North Goes Full Force with Digital Resources

Technology and Learning at South Middle School

At South Middle School, Instructional Technology Facilitator William “BJ” Antonelli has been working closely with teachers and students to fully integrate the influx of technology at the school.  More and more students and teachers are communicating and collaborating through Google Classroom and sharing their work with others via Promethean panels. These panels received new updates this fall, and teachers are raving about the new tools and features offered to them through the whiteboard app. The school also has recently configured a 3D printer and is bringing projects to life by creating 3D models of chemical compounds that the students are learning about in science.
